WHERE DOES FEAR OF FLYING COME FROM?
Fear is basically a normal and healthy reaction of our body. It has the important task of protecting us and there are many different situations in life in which a justified fear protects us from harm.
In such situations, an emergency program starts in our body within milliseconds, which is exclusively designed to ensure survival.
As far as flying is concerned, a certain fear of it is very understandable, as we as passengers hand ourselves over to the competence of the crew resp. technology and thus relinquish control. In this respect, this fear is at least as unfounded as when using the train or bus.
However, it can also be a fear of heights (acrophobia) or claustrophobia that causes you problems when flying.
It is therefore essential to find the respective triggers and causes so that you can then work out the appropriate exercises, methods or strategies – but also how you can apply them effectively.
TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF FLYING
In my coaching sessions, you also have the opportunity to discuss and clarify with me in a relaxed atmosphere all the questions you may have about flying – in spite of researching on the Internet – such as:
- Why does an airplane fly?
- How safe is flying?
- Why does acceleration on the runway sometimes take so long?
- How bad is turbulence?
- What do the different noises in an airplane mean?
- How dangerous are thunderstorms?
- How good is the maintenance of airplanes?
- What happens if an engine fails?
- Why do pilots walk around the aircraft before every flight?
